Duties

  • teaching assigned classes together with associated preparation and correction.  
  • developing the school curriculum.
  • assessing, recording and reporting on the work of pupils.
  • preparing pupils for examinations and assisting with their administration.  
  • providing advice and guidance to pupils on issues related to their education.  
  • promoting and safeguarding the health, welfare and safety of pupils.   
  • working in partnership with parents, support staff and other professionals.  
  • undertaking appropriate and agreed continuing professional development.  
  • participating in issues related to school planning, raising achievement and individual review.  
  • contributing towards good order and the wider needs of the school.

Essential criteria

  • Degree or equivalent
  • GTC Registration (secondary education)
  • Sound knowledge of  a range of learning and teaching approaches
  • Sound knowledge of various aspects of Mathematics  experiences and outcomes
  • Good awareness of planning for  development of  cross cutting themes  
  • Ability to plan to meet learning needs of all pupils
  • effective behavior management strategies 
  • well developed ICT skills and experience of using interactive whiteboard with pupils
  • Demonstrates an understanding and commitment to pupil personal support entitlement
  • good written communication skills
  • Good oral communication skills
  • Effective behaviour management strategies
  • Flexible and approachable
  • Enthusiastic and reflective
  • Relates well to pupils, fellow staff and parents and works effectively within a range of teams
  • Commitment to all aspects of Form Tutor role
  • Demonstrates commitment to the corporate life of the school and has an interest in extra curricular activities
  • Ability to become a member of the PVG Scheme
