We have a range of exciting opportunities to join our Locality Service in supporting children, young people and their families in Angus.

As a service we are looking for enthusiastic practitioners who are passionate in supporting some of the most vulnerable families in our community and who are committed to working towards maximising inclusion and reducing inequalities across Angus.

Vacancies exist throughout the Angus area. Your team’s office base would be either:

Arbroath Locality Teams 1 and 2.

Based at Bruce House, Wellgate, Arbroath, primarily covering the Arbroath, Carnoustie, Monifieth and the surrounding area.

3 permanent positions and 2 temporary positions for up to 1 year from date of appointment.

Forfar & Kirriemuir Locality Team.

Based at Ravenswood, New Road, Forfar, primarily covering the Forfar, Kirriemuir and surroundings area.

1 permanent position and 1 temporary position for up to 1 year from date of appointment.

Montrose & Brechin Locality Team.

Based at 208 – 210 High Street, Montrose, primarily covering Montrose, Brechin and surrounding area.

1 permanent position.

You will be expected to work across the Angus area where required.

Internal and external applications on a secondment basis (for temporary positions) will be considered. You must have the approval of your line manager / organisation.

Duties

  • Provide a high quality social work service within designated service area.  
  • Responsible for a varied caseload, undertaking social work tasks on an individual, joint or group basis as determined by individual need.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and case conferences, keeping records and preparing reports per the requirements of service policies.  
  • Liaise and work jointly with other agencies, organisations and projects as required.  
  • Participate in and contribute to post qualification training.  
  • To comply with all data protection law in the processing of personal, and special categories of personal data, in line with the council’s full privacy statement and service privacy notices.

Essential criteria

  • MSc Social Work/BA (Hons) Social Work/Dip SW/CQSW/CSS with appropriate option
  • Willingness to undertake mandatory information governance training
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Excellent assessment skills
  • Flexible approach to work
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to liaise with other agencies
  • Ability to use initiative Willingness to learn new skills
  • Full, current driving licence
  • Access to a vehicle
  • SSSC Registration Ability to become a member of the PVG Scheme

Desirable criteria

  • Post qualifying training/qualification
  • Child protection training/qualification
  • Evidence of ongoing commitment to personal and professional development
  • Experience in the field of child care, including working with children and their families
  • Experience in local authority social work setting
  • Experience of group work
  • Experience in training/presentations
