Description

Based at Arbroath High School.

You will work 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term time only (195 days).

This job is temporary until no later than 23 December 2022.

Internal and external applications on a secondment basis will be considered. You must have the approval of your line manager / organisation.

Duties

  • Directly provide and support the delivery of a range of flexible services appropriate to service user needs for children, young people and their families.  
  • Contribute to the assessment of needs and development of care and support plans for children, young people and their families receiving a social work service, including attending case conferences and reviews.  
  • Contribute to the planning, organisation and provision of resources and activities to meet the physical, social and emotional developmental needs of children, young people and their families.
  • Provide practical help, support, advice and assistance to children, young people and their families on a range of issues relating to their situation.  
  • Liaise and work collaboratively with colleagues from social work teams and partner agencies to deliver services for children, young people and their families.  
  • Assist in, and contribute to, the development of services for children, young people and their families.  
  • Deliver services in accordance with departmental policies, standards and operational instructions.  
  • Maintain records and prepare/contribute to reports as appropriate.  
  • Contribute to continuous evaluation involving staff, service users and partner agencies.  
  • Participate in continuous professional development.  
  • To comply with all data protection law in the processing of personal, and special categories of personal data, in line with the council’s full privacy statement and service privacy notices.  

Essential criteria

  • SVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or HNC (Working with children and early years) or equivalent
  • Willingness to undertake training
  • Willingness to undertake mandatory information governance training
  • SVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or HNC (Working with children and early years) or equivalent
  • Willingness to undertake training

  • Ability to work co-operatively with colleagues, partner agencies, families and carers
  • Interest in and enthusiasm for work with children, young people and their families

  • Full, current driving licence
  • Access to a vehicle
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends if required Ability to become a member of the PVG Scheme

Desirable criteria

  • HNC in Social Care (Children and Young People)
  • Knowledge of developmental needs of children and young people
  • Knowledge of multi-agency working
