Based at Angus House, Orchardbank Business Park, Forfar.

There are two positions available:

One position is permanent.

One position is temporary for up to 18 months from date of appointment.

Internal and external applications on a secondment basis for the temporary position will be considered. You must have the approval of your line manager / organisation.


  • Carrying out a range of routine procedures and instructions using initiative to make routine decisions Interpreting information and/or situations and solving generally similar problems
  • Processing confidential, personal and sensitive information
  • Reception duties
  • Telephone operation
  • Routine filing and collation Mail duties
  • Photocopying Data inputting and complex word processing and/or the use of a range of software packages
  • Cash handling on a regular basis
  • Processing a range of financial documents eg orders, invoices and claim forms and resolving queries/anomalies
  • Preparing standard reports
  • Seeking and providing information from and to work colleagues and/or members of the public
  • To comply with all data protection law in the processing of personal, and special categories of personal data, in line with the council’s full privacy statement and service privacy notices.

Essential criteria

  • Two National 5 Grades, one of which must be English, or a relevant Modern Apprenticeship/NC level 5/SVQ level 2 in Administration or other relevant subject, or equivalent qualification; or relevant office experience
  • Willingness to undertake mandatory information governance training
  • Good oral communication skills
  • Good written communication skills
  • Good numeracy skills
  • Good customer care skills
  • Excellent keyboard skills
  • Experience of Microsoft Office packages
  • Knowledge and understanding of administrative procedures
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Ability to produce accurate work Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to work as part of a team

Desirable criteria

  • ECDL award
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial processes/documents
  • Experience of working in an office environment
  • Experience of dealing with the public
