Description

Based at either Webster's High School, Kirriemuir or Monifieth High School, Monifieth, working across the Angus area.

Allocated base school to be confirmed upon appointment and is subject to change.

You will work 35 hours per week.

Duties

  • Provide high quality instrumental lessons in primary and secondary schools
  • Advise and guide pupils on all aspects of their instrumental education    
  • Assist in developing the music curriculum as it relates to instrumental music     
  • Contribute to and support all activities of the instrumental service     
  • Assist in regional bands and orchestras/band camps     
  • Undertake in-service training, review and professional development     
  • Comply with all data protection law in the processing of personal, and special categories of personal data, in line with the council’s full privacy statement and service privacy notices

Essential criteria

  • Graduate Degree in Music or recognised Music Diploma/Qualification (LRAM, LTCL, dip ABRSM etc)
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Willingness to undertake mandatory information governance training
  • Previous teaching experience
  • Good written communication skills
  • Good oral communication skills
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • High standard of performing skill
  • Ability to teach to Grade 8 standard and prepare pupils for conservatoire or university auditions
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to take initiative
  • Ability to contribute to the professional and social life of schools and the service as a whole
  • Ability to develop/maintain rapport with young people
  • Ability to motivate young people to achieve their full potential
  • Involvement in extracurricular activities (Including school rehearsals/concerts, ABRSM/Trinity College London exams, Music Camp and the IMS Bands & Orchestra programme).
  • Ability to use ICT effectively to deliver and enhance teaching
  • Full, current driving licence
  • Access to a vehicle
  • Ability to become a member of the PVG Scheme

Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge of different teaching approaches e.g. Kodaly, Dalcroze, Orff
